The department currently is comprised of five faculty members including three from teaching cadre and two from GDMO cadre. It has 6 sanctioned posts of Senior Residents, 6 sanctioned posts of non-academic junior residents and has multiple technical, academic and administrative staff. The primary duties of the department include teaching of undergraduate students and medicolegal work. The department has 100 undergraduate students every year and during this period they are trained in all medicolegal matters which they are likely to face in their professional life.
Future Plan:
- Establishment of Poison Information Centre (PIC) providing information regarding management of various poisoning cases nationwide.
- Establishment of well-equipped and advanced Clinical Forensic Medicine Unit (CFMU) to deal with the Forensic Histopathology, Analytical & Clinical Toxicology, Forensic Microbiology and Forensic Radiology.
- Conducting annual events like State level quiz for undergraduates, State level Autopsy workshops for medical professionals every year
