  • Clinical Care:
    • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): Provides comprehensive care for critically ill and premature newborns in three different patient care areas.
    • High-Risk Infant Follow-Up: Monitoring and support for infants at risk for developmental delays or other complications.
    • Neonatal Transport: Safe and efficient transport services for critically ill newborns from other hospitals or birthing centers.
    • Inpatient and Outpatient Care: 24/7 medical care for newborns requiring hospitalization and regular follow-up visits.
       
  • Support Services: 
    • Parent and Family Education: Educating families on neonatal care, feeding, and development.
    • Lactation Support: Assistance with breastfeeding and lactation management.
    • Psychosocial Support: Counseling and support for families coping with the stress of having a newborn in the NICU.
       
  • Specialized Programs:
    • Neonatal Surgery: Coordination with pediatric surgeons for surgical interventions.
    • Neonatal Nutrition: Specialized nutrition plans for premature and critically ill infants.
    • Neonatal Developmental Care: Programs designed to support the developmental needs of neonates.
    • Neonatal cardiac surgery: Coordination with cardiac surgery and pediatric cardiology team for operating critical congenital heart disease
    • Neonatal neurosurgery: Coordination with neurosurgery team for operating hydrocephalus, meningomyelocele, and brain abscess
       
  • Research and Education:
    • Clinical Research: Conducting research to advance the field of neonatology and improve patient outcomes.
    • Training Programs: Educational programs for medical students, residents, and fellows.
    • Continuing Medical Education (CME): Ongoing training for healthcare professionals.
    • DM superspeciality course: The department is running DM neonatology course from 2019 with an intake of 4 candidates per year
    • The department is collaborating with WHO, USAID for multicentric extramural research projects
    • Conducted Training and workshop for neonatal skill based procedures
       
  • Collaboration and Outreach:
    • Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration: Working with various specialists to provide comprehensive care, Hearing Assessment ( AISH, mysore, ENT & NEEV, DELHI), Visual Assessment( ROP-retinopathy of prematurity) AIIMS & LHMC. 
    • Community Outreach: Annual health camp- Educating the community on neonatal health and preventive care.
       
  • Achievements: Since its establishment, the Department of Neonatology has made significant strides in enhancing neonatal care. Our department has been instrumental in implementing advanced medical practices, conducting groundbreaking research & several trainings for national & state govt. and  IAP & NNF, first DM neonatology course of IP University and providing exceptional support to families. By offering these comprehensive services, the Department of Neonatology strives to improve neonatal outcomes and ensure that every admitted newborn receives the best possible start in life.
