Brief introduction

Blood bank is a well equipped department with the latest state of the art equipment to meet the requirement of safe blood and Blood components of assured quality, at all the times, to every needy patient, through voluntary and replacement blood donors It is duly licensed by the Drug Controller General of India for blood and blood components

Blood is screened for HIV and the other Transfusion transmitted Infections as HBSAg , HCV, VDRL  and Malaria as per mandatory requirement of the DCGI. For an added layer of blood safety all the blood units are also tested by Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT Tested) for HIV, HBV and HCV 

Blood Bank is equipped with a Blood component separation unit for separation of blood into blood components viz Packed cells, platelets Plasma and cryoprecipitate. In addition Aphaeresis procedure on blood donors for collection of single donor platelets is also available in the blood bank.

Blood bank is fully automated for Blood group serology, Pre transfusion testing Compatibility testing, Antibody screening and Identification  

Blood bank owns a State of the Art Blood Mobile for mobile camps. The blood mobile is fully equipped with equipments for collection , storage and transportation of blood 

Blood Bank is also a designated Regional Training centre by National AIDS Control Organization for training of Doctors , Medical officers and Nurses from blood banks of Delhi on Blood safety and quality management.
